Name?

Louise Waters

Where do you live?

North of Melbourne

What do you do?

I work as a casual non-emergency ambulance attendant whilst I study building design (architecture).

At the moment in my spare time I am obsessed with vegie gardening, propagating plants, fermentation, kombucha making and going on nature adventures 🙂

What did you have for breakfast?

I had paprika and balsamic mushrooms, pan fried tomatoes and red kraut on potato waffles 😀

When and why did you decide to go vegan?

I went vegan in 2011 when I began delving into health and nutrition and read a book called ‘skinny bitch’ lol. Basically that opened my eyes about animal cruelty and triggered me to research more about the questionable necessity of animal products and the detrimental effect it has on our health and the environment.

What does veganism mean to you?

It means opening your eyes to the real world and choosing kindness and compassion over what domestication has taught us. It’s caring about how your actions affect everything in world around you.

What is something surprising/interesting you’ve discovered or realised since going vegan?

Cashews make way better cheese than cows milk ❤

Have you ever been called a forkin’ vegan?

Not that I’m aware of hehe

Describe a normal day in the life of Lou.

Wake up, coffee or smoothie depending on how late I stayed up, work on sustainable architectural designs at TAFE, do a spot of gardening or another creative activity, cook a scrumptious dinner and do computer project work until the am haha

What food best describes your personality?

I couldn’t answer this question so I did an online test which said I am PIZZA because….

“you are effortlessly cool, have few enemies and some people have strong opinions about you. But that’s okay, you’re flawless” HAHA

Sweet or savoury?

I used to be allll about the sweet treats but I am more savoury now for sure, with the occasional doughnut, or ten if I’m not monitored.

What is your most memorable eating/dining experience?

First thing that comes to mind is when my boyfriend took me to Maha in Melbourne CBD for my uni graduation dinner. Mainly because I felt fancy as hell. But the food WAS delish.

What is your favourite song/album to listen to in the kitchen while cooking?

I sometimes listen to music specific to the cuisine I’m cooking. So if I’m making burritos I will literally type in “mexican music” into spotify HAHA

What is your speciality dish?

At the moment I make a MEAN carbonara-ry creamy pasta dish

If you could invite 3 people to dinner who would they be?

Phil Wollen and his wife Trix cause they are my idols

What would you serve?

I’d get and amazing private vegan chef cause theres no chance id want to disappoint those guests!

On a cold winters night?

Describe your perfect day.

Waking up to discover there was worldwide peace and everyone went vegan muahahah

If you were a vegetable what would you be?

A brussel sprout because less change of being eaten!

You’re on death row and it’s your last meal. What do you eat?

A vanilla slice

How do you think we can each make the world a better place?

Doing your research and doing the RIGHT thing not the COMMON thing
